One of the most common defenses to removability for a legal permanent resident is Cancellation of 
Removal for Legal Permanent Residents.  This relief is limited to those who are already permanent 
residents for at least five year and those who have reside at least seven years after admission in any status.  
Additionally, this defense is not available to those who have been convicted of an “aggravated felony.”   
A non-citizen may request this waiver only once.
